Engineering

SIP engineering capabilities rely on multi-disciplinary
teams of engineers and technicians (more than 70% are
engineers). SIP can also count on a network of local
engineering subcontractors in order to manage workload
peaks.
The engineering department is organised in technical
disciplines, with skills covering the full spectrum of
upstream / downstream as well as onshore / offshore
projects. SIP can manage projects at various stages of
the engineering development, from conceptual studies up
to detailed and field engineering.
SIP engineering teams are continuously interacting with
other Saipem companies and a number of SIP engineers and
designers are regularly exposed to other operational
centres of the group through overseas assignment for
mutual knowledge sharing.
SIP engineering methods are compliant with international
environment for the benefit of our customers, suppliers
and sub-contractors. Our teams are well familiar with
international codes and standards: ASME, ASTM, API, AISC,
BS, EN, etc...
The Information Communication Technology set-up in SIP
is permanently maintained on a high standard which
enables a real-time safe and efficient multi-sites data
exchange, both within the Saipem group or with any
customer facilities in the world through Internet access
Engineering activities in SIP are supported by a
comprehensive panel of software, from specific
standalone ones such as HYSIS, PRO II, HTRI, SACS,
ABAQUS to integrated platform such as SmartPlant P&ID,
PDS, PDMS, Autocad or Microstation.
Almost all the projects at SIP are using 3D modelling
through PDS or PDMS. SIP has implemented most of the
modules of the SmartPlant series: SmartPlant P&ID, PDS,
SmartPlant Electrical, Intools and Marian.
Additional software and tools are added on project need
basis, together with adequate trainings for the
personnel.
